Value proposition

Why Flo.w?

Background

The Challenge

Every minute of every day, IAG Cargo operates its air cargo business to deliver world class products to over 10,000 businesses. With 15,000 flights a week to 350 destinations, this complex and fast-paced operation has to be run effectively and efficiently to deliver the service their customers expect.

Within London Heathrow, the operation faces one of the busiest airport environments in the world, all within a relatively small airside footprint. This can lead to congestion when loading and unloading cargo, placing a strain on time-critical processes.

IAG Cargo's existing systems provided limited awareness of ground fleet movement around the airport, giving the operation little time or data to mitigate issues as they arose. As a result, operations teams largely relied on instinct to predict and resolve problems. With the business expanding, IAG Cargo recognised this position as untenable if they wished to retain existing customers while growing new relationships.

Approach

The Solution

IAG Cargo, a sponsor of parent IAG's innovative Hangar 51 SME accelerator programme, brought Emu Analytics onboard to help develop a system that could provide the insights needed to monitor and fine-tune their processes and better manage operational challenges.

Emu Analytics rapidly deployed Flo.w, capable of ingesting thousands of data points a second from vehicle telematics devices installed on IAG Cargo's ground fleet and turning this data into actionable, timely insights.

Through cutting-edge location analytics and data science, Emu Analytics provided IAG Cargo with real efficiency savings, reduced operational risk, and improved customer outcomes.
