So far, 2024 has been a whirlwind year for Team Emu. From the innovative airspace hubs of Montreal to the global aviation stage and sunny skies of Miami, our team has been on a mission to showcase how our digital twin software, Flo.w, is aiding airlines, airports and aerospace organisations globally. Here is a recap of the exciting events we've had the opportunity to exhibit at.
Our journey kicked off in March at the International Civil Aviation Organisation's "The Future is Now" Innovation Fair in Montreal. It was a pivotal moment as we unveiled new upgrades to Flo.w, transforming the way airspace planners and regulators are able to effectively measure and monitor the movements of aircrafts through airspace structures, enabling better-informed decision making with regards to the future of airspace.
The fair was an incredible platform, allowing us to connect with UN agencies, state representatives, and industry leaders. Emu CEO, Richard Vilton, joined a panel to discuss the exciting possibilities of Digital Twin technology within aviation. Another highlight was our meeting with ICAO's President Salvatore Sciacchitano and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar.
In April, our team landed in Munich for Aerospace Tech Week Europe. It was an exciting opportunity to let attendees explore the powerful capabilities of Flo.w for optimised operations for airlines and airports.
We also crossed paths once again with IATa Director General, and former International Airlines Group (IAG), Aer Lingus, and British Airways CEO, Willie Walsh, who we met back in 2018 when Emu pitched for a place in IAG's Hangar 51 innovation accelerator. This encounter marked a full-circle moment, as our innovation journey within aviation began with this programme.
Whilst in Germany, we also stopped by PTE in Frankfurt to be inspired by the many innovative airlines, airports and aviation organisations sharing their latest technology!
May marked a significant milestone as we made our debut in the United States at the Aviation Festival Americas in Miami. This event was a thrilling step in our global expansion, proving that even though we're named after a flightless bird, Emu Analytics is flying to new destinations! Richard Vilton and Martine Skaret represented Team Emu alongside our ADS-B data partner, Plane Finder. We participated in a Start-up competition, showcasing how our solutions, honed in the UK, could revolutionise the US aviation market. Marketing and Business Growth Manager, Martine Skaret emphasised the crucial role of start-up competitions in giving exposure to smaller companies like ours, helping us connect with big organisations and showcase our expertise.
Alongside our presence in Miami, our Head of Product, Jonathan Dowton-Smith represented Emu Analytics at the Future Travel Experience Aviation & Robotics Summit at Pittsburgh International Airport. In the months leading up to this event, we have collaborated with AI data company, Synaptic Aviation, to demonstrate how our Digital Twin solution, enhanced with Synaptic AI data, can aid and improve turnaround activities for IAG Airports.
In May we were excited to once again deliver a talk at Geo Business hosted at the ExCel in London! Our Senior Location Intelligence Analyst, Alice Goudie, delivered an outstanding presentation, sharing Emu Analytics' latest research comparing aircraft taxiing behaviours at six prominent international airports including JFK International, London Heathrow, Schipol Airport and more, demonstrating how geospatial analysis can reshape our understanding of sustainability impacts in aviation, and when leveraged through innovative technology, can pave the way for airports and airlines to achieve net-zero emissions.
Earlier this year Emu Analytics was shortlisted as one of five innovative companies to develop Digital Twin technology for Glasgow Airport through the Connected Airport Living Lab, an innovation competition in collaboration with Connected Places Catapult to explore how digital twin technology can be applied to improve passenger mobility, energy management and asset replacement and more for Glasgow Airport.
Team Emu exhibited at the competition showcase hosted at the University of Strathclyde, presenting our solution to aid Glasgow Airport and the wider AGS Airport group in their asset replacement strategy through the use of real-time geospatial analysis and visualisation.
Our most recent adventure took us to Dublin for the Future Travel Experience EMEA. Team Emu showcased Flo.w’s benefits for airlines, airspace operations, and airports. A major highlight was International Airline Group going home with the trophy in the "Most Innovative Airline Initiative" competitions for their innovative use of our software in their "Mission Control" operations centre. This partnership, born from the Hangar 51 Innovation accelerator, has evolved into a vital component of BA’s operations, helping them improve performance and reduce delays.
Reflecting on the exciting first half of 2024, we're proud to see innovative Digital Twin software making an impact in the aviation sector, from Europe to North America, and this is just the beginning. We’re excited to see where our journey leads, kicking off with World Aviation Festival in October!
Stay tuned for more news from Team Emu on the horizon.
